VERITEX® was created to give the textile and apparel industry a certification system built on transparency, rigor and real-world verification. We work with manufacturers, suppliers, converters, brands and retailers who want more than a label — they want a certification they can stand behind, backed by controls that hold up to scrutiny at every stage of the value chain, from fibre production to the finished garment.

Our four schemes — VERITEX SOCIAL®, VERITEX ECOFLOW®, VERITEX PURE® and VERITEX ELITE® — are built around one principle: certification only matters if it can be verified. Each scheme addresses a specific, measurable area of impact — social responsibility and workers' rights, sustainable resource management, chemical safety — while VERITEX ELITE® integrates all three into a single premium certification for organizations ready to demonstrate excellence across the board.

Every VERITEX® certification follows the same structured pathway: document review, on-site audit, laboratory testing where applicable, and periodic surveillance — because a standard is only credible if it's maintained, not just achieved once.

VERITEX SOCIAL®

Responsible Textile Supply Chain Certification

Overview

VERITEX SOCIAL® is a voluntary product and supply chain certification scheme designed to assess, verify and promote social responsibility throughout the entire textile production process, from the cultivation and harvesting of raw materials to the manufacture, processing, packaging and distribution of the final textile product.

Scope

The certification applies to raw material production, spinning, weaving, knitting, dyeing, finishing, garment manufacturing, packaging, logistics and all organizations involved in the textile supply chain.

Frequently Asked Questions

It is a certification system for the textile and apparel sector, structured into four schemes: VERITEX SOCIAL® (workers' rights), VERITEX ECOFLOW® (environmental management), VERITEX PURE® (chemical safety), and VERITEX ELITE®, which integrates these with advanced ESG requirements.

English; translations must be approved by the Scheme Owner, and in the event of a conflict, the English version prevails.

The Scheme Owner, SMC Slovensko a.s. (the ultimate authority), the Certification Committee, and the Integrity and Impartiality Committee.

Information is classified as Public, Internal, Confidential, or Highly Confidential and protected accordingly; all personnel sign confidentiality agreements that remain valid even after the employment relationship ends.

Violations are classified as minor, major, or critical; sanctions range from a formal warning to the revocation of certification, permanent exclusion, and reporting to the competent authorities.

Three years, comprising eight stages: application, contract review, audit planning, Stage 1, Stage 2, certification decision, maintenance, and recertification.

Up to a maximum of 3 years, subject to the successful outcome of annual surveillance audits.

The certificate is suspended.

Yes, the regulations include specific rules for remote audits, in addition to on-site audits.

Integrity, objectivity, impartiality, competence, transparency, confidentiality, accountability, and continuous improvement.

No: it neither replaces legal obligations nor transfers legal liability away from the certified organization, which remains fully responsible for regulatory compliance.

It holds overall responsibility for scheme development, intellectual property, system recognition, and oversight, but remains.

Through a confidential whistleblowing system that allows for anonymous reporting and operates independently of the organizational hierarchy; individuals reporting in good faith are protected against retaliation.

Only SMC Slovensko a.s.—and potentially other bodies accredited by it—may certify textile companies' products under the four certification schemes.

The official VERITEX® form, containing general information about the organization and the requested scheme, operational data (processes, volumes, suppliers), and information on the management system.

At least once a year during the certification cycle, to verify ongoing compliance, improvement objectives, and the correct use of VERITEX® marks.

At least 90 days before the certificate expires. If not completed on time, the certificate lapses, and a new initial certification is required.
